Author Guidelines

Authorship
Biology and Molecular Medicine follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines. To qualify for authorship of a manuscript, a contributor must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantially contribute to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.

  2. Substantially contribute to drafting the work or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Provide final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Agree to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of all parts of the work.

Contributors who do not meet these criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section.

Biology and Molecular Medicine may request confirmation that all listed authors meet these conditions. The corresponding author is responsible for keeping co-authors informed of any changes to the author list. All authors, including those who are removed, must approve any such changes.

AI Statement
Any use of AI tools must comply with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Notably:

  • AI tools cannot be credited as authors, as they cannot take responsibility for manuscript content.

  • Authors are fully responsible for all content, including sections generated by AI, and are accountable for any ethical breaches.

AI tools may be used only to assist with editorial tasks such as improving language, grammar, and clarity. However, their use must not compromise the scientific integrity of the work and must be clearly disclosed in the Materials and Methods section.

Authors must ensure the following tasks are performed using their own judgment, not AI tools:

  • Selecting the appropriate study design

  • Choosing statistical methods for data analysis

  • Deciding what literature to cite

  • Drawing conclusions based on the results

AI tools (including large language models) are trained on extensive human-created datasets. Improper use can introduce bias or inaccuracies. Therefore:

  • Any AI-assisted edits should be approved by all co-authors.

  • Authors should thoroughly review any AI-generated or AI-edited content before submission.
